Unsealing process follows case filed by Virginia Giuffre against British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell
In a significant legal development, hundreds of sealed court filings linked to the notorious late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein are slated to be revealed this week.
The United States District Judge Loretta Preska ruled that there is no legal basis for maintaining confidentiality regarding the names of prominent figures, including Prince Andrew and former President Bill Clinton, NDTV reported.
The unsealing process, which began this week, has revealed Epstein’s connections to prominent figures, following a case filed by Virginia Giuffre against British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, alleging her involvement in Epstein’s alleged sex trafficking activities.
Giuffre accused Maxwell of defaming her by denying her claims of sexual trafficking and abuse as a minor during 1999-2002. However, Epstein’s prosecution was halted when he took his own life in August 2019, despite facing legal scrutiny.
Bill Clinton
Bill Clinton, referred to as “Doe 36,” is mentioned 50 times in the sealed records.
While Giuffre didn’t accuse Clinton, she claimed to have seen him with two young women on Epstein’s island, which he denies visiting. Despite his denial, flight records show he used Epstein’s plane for international trips post-presidency.
According to the records, another victim, Johanna Sjoberg testified that Epstein once told her that Clinton “likes them young,” referring to girls.
Donald Trump
In the documents, Sjoberg also testifies that in 2001, when travelling to one of Donald Trump’s casinos in New Jersey, Epstein promised her he would get in touch with him.
According to the BBC, she stated that after the pilots informed them that their plane would not be able to land in New York and would instead need to stop in Atlantic City, New Jersey, “Jeffrey said, ‘Great, we’ll call up Trump.”
Additionally, there are no accusations of Trump’s malfeasance in the documents.
During the deposition, Sjoberg is questioned if she ever gave Trump a massage to which she replied, “No.”
Who are some of the others?
The documents also mention late pop sensation Michael Jackson and magician David Copperfield, whom Sjoberg says she had met through Epstein, although she did not allege any wrongdoing by them.
Additionally, the documents also mention Jean-Luc Brunel, the French modelling agent who killed himself in a Paris jail in 2022 while awaiting rape charges, and New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson.
In her deposition, Giuffre says she was forced to have sex with prominent figures including Richardson. Before his death last year, Richardson denied ever meeting Giuffre, and he was not charged with any crime.
Among others, Alfredo Rodriguez, a household employee who was tasked with security for Epstein, was also mentioned describing Maxwell as “the boss” in his testimony, according to the court files.
Rodriguez, who died in 2015, was told to carry cash at all times to give to high school girls, and the girls who were helping recruit for Epstein, the documents say.
In addition to the mentioned figures, other personalities such as Google co-founder Larry Page, Billionaire hedge fund manager Glenn Dubin, and Professor Stephen Hawking, Nobel laureate Lawrence Krauss, comedian Chris Tucker, actor Kevin Spacey, Victoria’s Secret magnate Les Wexner and model Naomi Campbell reported to have visited Jeffrey Epstein’s Island.
