MrBeast, the superstar YouTuber, also known as Jimmy Donaldson, delivered a blunt response to Elon Musk’s suggestion that he should upload his videos to the X platform.

Musk’s endorsement of the idea came after MrBeast announced the YouTube release of his latest video on X.

Responding to a user’s suggestion to upload on X, Musk concurred with a simple “Yeah.” However, MrBeast swiftly shut down the proposal, citing the substantial costs of producing his videos and the inadequate funding potential through X’s monetisation policies.

He stated, “My videos cost millions to make, and even if they got a billion views on X, it wouldn’t fund a fraction of it :/.” Despite this, MrBeast expressed openness to testing the platform once its monetisation capabilities improve.

The latest video titled “I Spent 7 Days In Solitary Confinement” has amassed a remarkable 54 million views, contributing to MrBeast’s overall channel success with 224 million subscribers.

This isn’t the first time Musk suggested MrBeast use X for content distribution. In June 2023, Musk proposed, “Post to his platform too. Earnings per view should be competitive with YouTube.

If not, we will adjust.” Since acquiring X in 2022, Musk has persistently encouraged creators to use the platform for original content, emphasising revenue generation through premium subscriptions, engagement, and advertising.

However, X users took a humorous stance on MrBeast’s rejection, with comments like, “X is not a place for video. Elon can shout as much as he can,” and “Exactly. X doesn’t pay well. Don’t do it.”

MrBeast’s significant success on YouTube, with estimated monthly earnings between $2 million and $4 million, solidifies his position as one of the world’s most popular YouTube personalities.

The 25-year-old philanthropist from Wichita, Kansas, has not only garnered immense subscriber and view counts but has also expanded into various ventures, earning an estimated $500 million, including smartphone apps, video game tournaments, restaurants, and his food range.

In the broader context of X’s platform, Musk’s efforts to position it as a hub for free speech have faced challenges, with changes in content moderation and the restoration of accounts like Alex Jones causing concerns among users and advertisers.

Despite Musk’s vision, the platform’s modifications have led to a decline in user engagement and advertiser confidence.
