“Cam Newton Spotted Amid Brock Purdy’s Tough Night”

When former NFL quarterback Cam Newton referred to Brock Purdy of the San Francisco 49ers as a “game manager” as opposed to a “difference maker” earlier in December, it caused some controversy.
Purdy had a nightmare night. He threw three interceptions in the first half alone and added a fourth early in the third quarter. Going into the 49ers’ Christmas Day game against the Baltimore Ravens, he was the NFL MVP favorite.
Newton poked fun at San Francisco’s quarterback on X, the former Twitter platform, following Purdy’s third pick of the contest.
Newton tweeted three monocle emojis on Monday night, signaling that his audacious prediction was coming to pass despite the quarterback’s difficulties.
Purdy has only snagged seven interceptions on the season going into Monday’s game. Newton had not fallen for the hype around the former seventh-round choice, even though he had played well in the first 14 games of the season.
Newton, a previous MVP in his own way, came under heavy fire for designating Purdy as the game manager in addition to quarterbacks like Dak Prescott, Tua Tagovailoa, and Jared Goff. After Purdy’s third interception of the half, he kept his ground and made sure to quickly reiterate his remarks.
Purdy was having a terrible holiday, possibly costing himself a chance to win MVP, but Newton appeared to be relishing the 49ers quarterback’s meltdown.
