Despite the plethora of dramas gracing the small screen, it’s not easy to find the ones that fully make good on the camera’s promise to capture everyday lives with a striking resonance. One exceptional offering in 2023 was the multi-starrer hit, Baby Baji. Veteran actor Samina Ahmed’s portrayal of Baby Baji and the challenges her children grapple with struck a chord with everyone, making the drama a widely acclaimed offering.
As the curtains fell on its first season, many were left wondering about the fate of the three couples whose relationship struggles dominated the show’s plot. However, the curiosity has met a fruitful end because Baby Baji is set to continue its heartfelt saga. Actors Sunita Marshall and Javeria Saud took to Instagram with a collaborative post, sharing the first official teaser of Baby Baji Ki Bahuwain.
The stellar ensemble cast of the series will return to reprise their roles, featuring real-life couples Saud Qasmi and Javeria, and Sunita and Hassan Ahmed alongside Tuba Anwar, Junaid Jamshed Niazi, and Fazal Hussain.
Accompanied by the tagline, abhi yeh kahani baqi hai (this story is still unfinished), the teaser opens with Samina and Munawar Saeed as the old and wise couple, Baby Baji and Siddiqui Sahab, narrating the hard work goes into raising children who truly appreciate the efforts only when parents pass away. As the couple’s shot transitions into a framed picture on the wall, recalling their demise in season 1, the video alternately introduces viewers to each couple briefly recounting their troubles from the earlier season.
From Hassan’s character Naseer regretfully wondering if it’s possible to make amends with wife Asma (Sunita) to Azra (Javeria) and Jamal (Saud) reflecting on their tumultuous relationship and the possibility of divorce, the teaser shows how the family’s ties are still weak. In the absence of Baby Baji’s profound wisdom, fans can only wonder how the family will navigate these obstacles.
Steering the ship from the director’s chair is Tehseen Khan, returning to helm the much-anticipated sequel. As for the script, it remains to be confirmed whether Mansoor Ahmed Khan will be back to craft the narrative. Season 1 of Baby Baji revolved around Baby Aapa’s endeavours to hold her family together after her husband’s illness. With four sons, three of whom are married, the family faces challenges following the demise of their father. The narrative delved into the struggles and triumphs of Baby Aapa and her efforts to keep the family united.
